Galatasaray and Man City have agreed deal for Ilkay Gündogan.

Galatasaray have reached an agreement with Manchester City for the transfer of midfielder İlkay Gündoğan.

The 34-year-old German international, a modern legend at the Etihad Stadium, is set to return to his ancestral homeland to join the Turkish Süper Lig champions, marking a significant coup for Galatasaray.

According to reports from Sky Germany and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City and Galatasaray have finalized a deal for Gündoğan, with the Premier League club agreeing to let the midfielder depart as part of their squad restructuring.

While the exact details of the transfer fee remain undisclosed, sources suggest that City may have allowed Gündoğan to leave without a significant fee, given that his contract runs until June 2026.

This follows earlier reports that City were open to letting Gündoğan go, especially after signing Nico González and Tijjani Reijnders, which reduced his playing time prospects for the upcoming season.

Negotiations between Galatasaray and Gündoğan’s representatives have been ongoing throughout the summer, with the Turkish club offering a €5 million net annual salary to lure the midfielder.

The deal reportedly includes a two-year contract with an option for an additional year, aligning with Gündoğan’s desire for consistent playing time and a prominent role. A key factor in the agreement was Gündoğan’s personal connection to Turkey, as his parents are Turkish, and he has previously expressed admiration for Galatasaray, calling it his “childhood love.”
